I began sewing in 1965. In my family, learning to sew was no surprise. In 1974, my last year in high school, I decided to become a fashion designer, as it was the only career I could think of, that would allow me to earn a living having something to do with what I love the most… sewing. I started quilting in 1983 right after I closed my first design company in NYC. I moved to Asheville in 1984 and opened Tornado Clothing Company. In 1989, I bought what is now Curve Studios. Starting in 2003, I helped to found the River Arts District.
Now it is 2010. I live and work in Asheville’s River Arts District @ Curve Studios. You are welcome to come visit the studio 7 days a week from 11am to 4pm. Inside #6 Riverside Drive you will find me making my Extraordinary Quilts, my Fun Fleece or my Eclectic Clothing lines.

“I’m not sure why, but this shot is particularly captivating. It puts me in mind of an exotic aquatic creature that has escaped captivity but is still the object of our observation.” – WECAN neighbor Morgan Daven

Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86 has invited CURVE studios’ Greg Vineyard to curate a show celebrating CURVE studios & garden & its artists called “CURVEilinear“. It’s all about what people see and feel when they walk through the doors of the three historic brick buildings at 6, 9 and 12 Riverside Drive in Asheville’s River Arts District. It’s the CURVE studios & garden working studio experience where vistors seven days a week encounter functional clay and decorative ceramics, textiles and weaving, jewelry, metal works, furniture and paintings, plus a beautifully landscaped garden… with a synergistic communication amongst the group nurtured by artist-owner Pattiy Torno’s desire to incubate a creative community. The show runs from January 11 to February 6, 2010. Gallery 86 can be found at 86 North Main Street in Waynesville, NC. or online @ www.haywoodarts.org
