The Southeast Headache Society, those who look after ones with headaches…. is hosting their first annual conference in Asheville @ The Crown Plaza Resort. Local neurologist, Morris Maizels decide to ask if the Saturday evening cocktail party might take place within the cultural confines of CURVE studios & garden and we said “of course”. So this Saturday evening, CURVE will be open late, until 8:30pm to welcome neurological medical professionals from all over the south east to enjoy the art and gardens @ CURVE.
Thanks to the progressive vision of Jessica Powell & Noah Scanlin, CURVE studios & garden will host their wedding on Saturday, Ocotber 15, 2011. Joined by 45 good friends, the plan is for a tea ceremony under the willow tree in the garden, a toast to the newly wed couple and relaxing, visiting & touring the studios @ CURVE. CURVE had the lovely pleasure to host the First Ladies of Missouri, Mississippi & Georgia this morning. Constance Williams demonstrated encaustic, Pattiy Torno explained quilt process & Alena Hennessy spoke about her upcoming book. Several pieces of Karen Newgard’s ceramic work have found new homes… all in all, a great experience.
CURVE garden seems to be the new place to have your portrait taken… several sunday mornings have found families & families to be making photos in the garden. Here are few things to remember. Professsional photographers, using CURVE as a location, must get permission from Pattiy Torno, the gardener, resident & owner of CURVE. Find her @ 828.388.3526. Friendly photos are fine anytime between dawn & dusk. Please pack out what you pack in & resist the urge to abscond with the garden’s bounty, with our thanks.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2011, the American Ecological Engineering Society came calling to CURVE studios & garden. Thanks to Mitch Woodward & Jason Zink of NC State Ag & Bio, CURVE has a newly installed “WaterWall” cistern system. Mitch Woodward brought all the gear up on his trailer & he and Pattiy spent the past 4 days making ready. Mitch then did his pitch about how the system works here and can work for these folks when they go back home… Very informative.
